We Filipinos celebration for the New Year is quite different compared to other countries. Filipinos literally start the New Year with a bang!! Just a few days before New Year's Eve, you will see lots of sidewalk vendors selling different firecrackers. Filipinos see lighting of firecrackers as the traditional means yo greet and celebrate New Year Eve.
We prepare and cook delicious food for the Media Noche. It is a busy day for all families. People are rushing in to buy firecrackers in preparation for the night celebration.
Aside from lighting firecrackers and having firework displays, Filipinos have other beliefs and practices. which are associated and believed to bring good luck, fortune and prosperity in New Year.
Part of the fun in getting ready for New Year's Eve is to come up with twelve round fruits, each to signify a month of the year. Filipinos try to dress polka-dots because the roundness signify prosperity.
Family starts to eat thanksgiving feat called Media Noche. It is believed that we should put as much food on the table so that next year you will have food all year round. Children have a good time to blow their plastic toy trumpets called "Torotot". It comes in different sizes, colors, shapes and designs.
Aside from these we have to change our bad attitudes to have a better life fot this Year 2013. I'm gonna stop cramming projects and homeworks :D. I'm gonna spend money wisely so that I could earn. And that's the New Me for the New Year!
